According to WFTV in Orlando, the ubiquitous reptiles could plummet from trees as some regions experience a cold snap this weekend – particularly on Saturday night.

This isn’t the first time meteorologists have sounded the alarm about the phenomenon. Back in 2020, the National Weather Service’s Miami office shared a similar alert in a tweet that went viral.

The cold-blooded critters “slow down or become immobile when temps drop into the 40s,” the agency wrote at the time. “They may fall from trees, but they are not dead.”
